About Sound Mind Counseling & Neurotherapy | Mooresville, NC
At Sound Mind Counseling & Neurotherapy in Mooresville, NC, we believe therapy should feel human. Our team of licensed mental health counselors provides warm, evidence-based care for children ages 10 and up, teens, adults, couples, and families — blending trauma therapy with EMDR, neurofeedback, and integrative modalities to support healing on every level: emotional, neurological, and relational. We’re not a transactional therapy practice; we’re a place where you can finally exhale.
Our Mission, Vision & Values
Our vision is for therapy to feel like a deep exhale — a space where you can stop carrying everything alone and find real, lasting healing.
We believe meaningful change happens when care honors the whole person: brain, body, emotions, and relationships. That’s why we integrate evidence-based therapy with neurofeedback, trauma-informed approaches, and attachment-focused care — all delivered with the warmth, professionalism, and authenticity that make therapy feel safe and human.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship struggles, or simply feeling stuck, our goal is to walk with you toward clarity, healing, and a more grounded sense of self.
Meet Sherri Robbins
M.A., LCMHC QS, LCPC, NCC — Founder & Clinical Director

Sherri founded Sound Mind after seeing too many people walk into therapy braced for analysis and walk out still feeling like a diagnosis. She wanted to build something different — a practice grounded in clinical depth, emotional safety, and the belief that healing involves the whole person: brain, body, emotions, and relationships.
Sherri is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHC QS) in North Carolina and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland, with specialized training in trauma, EMDR, neurofeedback, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Methods. She holds an M.A. from Regent University and a B.A. from Life Pacific University.
Her clinical work focuses on trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles — and she’s especially passionate about helping people who feel stuck in patterns they understand intellectually but can’t seem to shift on their own. Sherri believes that people’s stories — and their sense of belonging — are central to the journey toward wholeness.
As Clinical Supervisor for the practice, Sherri also mentors the next generation of therapists at Sound Mind, ensuring every clinician on our team brings the same depth of training and warmth of presence that defines our care.
What Makes Sound Mind Different
We’re not the only counseling practice in Mooresville. Here’s what sets us apart.
Neurofeedback + Traditional Therapy
We integrate brain-based work alongside talk therapy. Many of our clients have spent years trying to “think their way out” of anxiety, trauma, or chronic stress. Neurofeedback gives us another way to support healing — at the level of the brain and nervous system — so the work in therapy actually sticks.
Trauma-Informed and Attachment-Focused Care
Rather than just managing symptoms, we help you understand the root causes behind patterns, emotional overwhelm, and relationship struggles. We’re trained in the deeper layers: trauma, attachment wounds, nervous system patterns, and the emotional experiences that quietly shape how you move through life.
Therapy That Feels Human
What truly sets us apart is how clients feel with us. We intentionally combine clinical depth with warmth, emotional intelligence, and real human connection. Therapy should be approachable, safe, and supportive — not cold, clinical, or transactional. We want you to feel like you can stop pretending you’re okay and finally exhale.
Faith Integration Available
For clients who want it, we can integrate Christian faith — biblical principles, prayer, and spiritual perspectives — into the therapy process. The faith piece is always at your invitation, never imposed. We’re equally welcoming to clients of all backgrounds without faith integration.

Insurance, Fees & Payments
- In-Network: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem BCBS, & Aetna
When using insurance, you may need to meet your deductible before your plan starts covering sessions. Most plans also require a copay or coinsurance for each session, which is due at the time of your appointment. While we verify your coverage before your first session, this does not guarantee payment from your insurance provider. If a claim is denied, you will be responsible for the session fee.
Self-Pay Cost: We offer flexible pricing for therapy sessions based on the clinician’s level of experience, with rates ranging from $50 to $150 per session.
Out-of-Network: If your insurance is out-of-network, you will be considered a self-pay client. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, we can submit claims to several out-of-network companies for potential reimbursement from your insurance. Please note that insurance reimbursement typically requires a mental health diagnosis, which will become part of your permanent health record.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Sound Mind different from other counseling practices?
Three things set us apart. First, we integrate neurofeedback with traditional therapy — addressing both the emotional and neurological sides of healing. Second, we’re deeply trauma-informed and attachment-focused, helping clients understand the root causes behind their patterns rather than just managing symptoms. Third, we intentionally combine clinical professionalism with warmth, authenticity, and real human connection — therapy should feel approachable, not transactional.
How do you decide which therapist is right for me?
We start with a free consultation to learn about what you’re working through, your goals, and your preferences. From there, we recommend a therapist whose specialties and style align with your needs. If we feel another therapist on our team would be a better fit after you’ve started, we’ll say so honestly — and if a different practice would serve you better, we’ll help you find one.
Who founded Sound Mind Counseling & Neurotherapy?
Sound Mind was founded by Sherri Robbins, M.A., LCMHC, LCPC — a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in North Carolina and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland. With years of clinical experience in trauma, neurofeedback, and integrative therapy, Sherri built the practice around the belief that healing is more than emotional — it also involves the brain, body, attachment system, and nervous system.
What is your therapy philosophy?
We believe meaningful change happens when therapy honors the whole person — brain, emotions, and relationships — and when the experience itself feels emotionally safe. Our approach is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and integrative, blending evidence-based modalities like EMDR, IFS, ACT, Gottman Methods, EFT, CBT, and neurofeedback to fit each client’s needs. We want therapy to feel warm, professional, and deeply human — not cold or clinical.
Are your therapists supervised?
Yes. Sherri Robbins, the practice founder, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Qualified Supervisor (LCMHC QS) in North Carolina, which means she provides clinical supervision to therapists who hold the LCMHCA (Associate) license. This ensures every therapist on our team has experienced clinical oversight as they grow in their work — a meaningful quality-of-care signal for clients.
Where is Sound Mind located and what areas do you serve?
Our office is at 219 Williamson Rd, Ste 2201, Mooresville, NC 28117 — conveniently located for clients across the Lake Norman area, including Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Troutman, Statesville, and Sherrills Ford. We also offer secure telehealth across all of North Carolina and Maryland for clients who prefer virtual sessions or live outside the immediate area.
What ages and concerns do you work with?
We work with children ages 10 and up, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns — anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, relationship struggles, grief, life transitions, perfectionism, burnout, and more. We do not currently see children younger than 10; if you’re seeking support for a younger child, we’re happy to recommend trusted local providers.
Do you offer Christian or faith-integrated counseling?
Yes — for clients who want it. Sound Mind welcomes people of all backgrounds, and we also offer thoughtful, compassionate Christian integration for clients who’d like their faith woven into therapy. The faith piece is always at your invitation, never imposed. Learn more on our Christian Counseling page.
