Anxiety Therapy in Mooresville, NC
Anxiety can look like worry, overthinking, panic, irritability, perfectionism, or trouble sleeping. We help children (10+), teens, and adults reduce anxiety with evidence-based therapy—ACT, IFS-informed care, EMDR (when indicated), and optional neurofeedback for nervous-system regulation. Together, we’ll build calm, confidence, and practical skills you can use every day with the right anxiety therapy approaches.
Signs Anxiety Therapy Might Be Needed

How Anxiety Therapy Works Here
Understand your pattern – Triggers, thoughts, body cues, and strengths.Build regulation – Breathing, grounding, and body-based skills that actually fit your day.
Practice new responses – Cognitive + behavioral tools for worry, panic, and avoidance.
Heal roots when needed – EMDR and/or IFS-informed work for past experiences that keep anxiety stuck.
Maintain progress – Relapse-prevention plan and simple habits to keep momentum.
Approaches We Use
ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) – Skills for thoughts/feelings, values, and committed action (even when anxiety shows up).IFS-Informed “Parts” Work – Understand anxious/protective parts without shame; increase self-leadership.
EMDR – When past experiences or specific fears keep looping, EMDR can help reprocess them safely.
Neurofeedback (optional) – Brain-based training that supports calm, focus, and sleep; many clients pair this with therapy for faster regulation. Learn more on our Neurofeedback page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you teach coping skills or go deeper into the causes?
Both. We start by helping you build practical, body-based skills to reduce symptoms in the moment — grounding techniques, nervous system regulation, and emotional first-aid. Then, when you feel ready, we go deeper into the patterns and roots (using approaches like EMDR or Internal Family Systems) so the anxiety stops returning. You set the pace.
Can neurofeedback help with anxiety?
Yes. Many of our clients use neurofeedback alongside therapy to improve nervous system regulation, sleep, and focus — so the coping skills they’re building actually “stick” more easily. Neurofeedback works at a brain level that talk therapy alone cannot reach, especially for long-standing anxiety. It’s always optional, and we’ll help you decide whether it’s a fit during your initial assessment.
How long does anxiety therapy take?
It varies depending on what’s beneath the anxiety. Many people notice meaningful change within 8–12 sessions when the anxiety is more recent or skills-based. When panic, trauma, or attachment patterns are involved, the work tends to take longer — but feels more sustainable because it’s addressing the root, not just the symptom.
Do you offer medication management?
We don’t prescribe medication ourselves — Sound Mind is a counseling practice, not a psychiatric one. If you’re considering medication, we can coordinate care with your primary physician or a psychiatric prescriber, so therapy and medication support each other rather than working in silos.
Do you see kids under 10?
At this time, we don’t have any providers on our team who specialize in children younger than 10. We do work with children ages 10+, teens, adults, couples, and families. If you’re looking for support for a younger child, we’re happy to recommend trusted local play-therapy providers in the Lake Norman area.
Is telehealth effective for anxiety?
Yes — telehealth is especially effective for skills practice, emotional processing, and ongoing support. For deeper trauma-focused work, we’ll assess together whether telehealth is clinically appropriate, since some processing benefits from in-person sessions. Either way, we’ll match the format to your goals and what feels safest for you.
